The payment type a customer uses at WooCommerce checkout: credit card, debit card, digital wallet, or bank transfer. The payment method is processed by a payment gateway plugin that communicates with the payment provider. If the gateway plugin encounters a PHP error mid-transaction, WooCommerce may display a confirmation page while the payment method was never charged and no order was recorded.
