How to get to the settings page #
After the Loupely WordPress Plugin is installed and activated, a Loupely item appears in your WordPress Admin sidebar. Click it to open the plugin settings page. You can also get there by going to Plugins > Installed Plugins, finding Loupely, and clicking Settings.
What’s on the settings page #
Connection key #
This is the most important thing on the page and the first thing you’ll use after activation. The connection key is a unique, site-specific token that allows the Loupely Chrome extension to authenticate with this WordPress installation and retrieve server-side diagnostic data. Copy this key and paste it into the Loupely Chrome extension popup to link the 2 together.
The connection key is different from the License Key. See The Two Keys: Connection Key vs. License Key for the full explanation of which is which and where each one goes.
You can regenerate the connection key at any time by clicking Regenerate Key. Do this if you believe the key has been compromised, or if a previous connection stopped working and you want to reset it. After regenerating, you’ll need to update the key in the Chrome extension.
License Key #
If you’re on an annual plan (Loupely Annual, Bundle Annual, or Agency Annual), enter your License Key here to activate unlimited diagnoses on this site. The License Key is found in your account dashboard at useloupely.com. If you’re using credits rather than an annual plan, you can leave this field empty.
Connection status #
The settings page shows the current connection status between the plugin and the Chrome extension. A green “Connected” status means the extension has successfully authenticated with this site and is ready to capture server-side data. A “Disconnected” or “Not connected” status means either the extension hasn’t been linked yet, or the connection was lost (for example, after the extension was reinstalled).
If the status is disconnected and you expect it to be connected, copy the connection key and re-enter it in the Chrome extension popup.
Event Log retention #
The plugin stores a local log of diagnostic events captured from your site. This setting controls how long those events are retained before they’re automatically deleted. The default is 30 days. You can increase this if you want a longer record for reference, or decrease it if you’re on a server with limited database storage. The Event Log itself is visible from the Admin Event Log page.
Saving changes #
Click Save Settings after making any changes to the settings page. Changes to the License Key or Event Log retention take effect immediately. Changes to the connection key require you to update the key in the Chrome extension before the new connection will work.
